WEDNESDAY WITH TEAM

We had fourteen students again today for VBS. The young people again did a great job interacting with them and setting a good example before them.

After lunch we went to one of the church member’s house to pick fruit for the rest of the week. We gathered apples, plumbs, and strawberries. The team then had choir practice and cleaned the church for the mid-week Spanish service.

After dinner we went up to Faith Baptist Church of Atascadero and sang four numbers for their service.

FIRST DAY OF VACATION BIBLE CAMP!

We had a very busy day today. We had fourteen kids for today’s Bible camp. The team did a great job; they were friendly, helpful, and a great testimony for the Lord.

After lunch, the team went out and passed out brochures at another 800 or so homes. In the evening they enjoyed a Lasagna dinner while Pastor Shanks and Pastor Sanders took their wives on a double date.

After a late choir practice, we enjoyed s’mores over a campfire in the church courtyard.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

Our area code is experiencing technical problems and that is why we cannot post any photos of the team’s activities at this time. They hope to have it resolved by 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, but this goal has moved several times. We’ll keep you posted.

MONDAY BEFORE VBS

The day was spent practicing stories, puppets, skits, and music. We also set up classrooms and worked out many details regarding the facilitation of the VBS itself.

We also took a hike up Bishop Peak, which is the mountain just to the West of the church. The young people were fooled because they did not realize how high the mountain was–the climb was over 1,300 feet!

I’m sorry about no pictures, but our photo server is down, and we could not load any of the photos.

SUNDAY WITH TEAM

Well, we got 30 people through baths and showers for today’s services–and everyone was ready on time!

We had sixty for the morning worship. The team men sang “Amazing Grace”, the choir sang “Come Unto Me”, and Emily played “My Savior’s Love” for the offertory. Mike led the singing and Karis accompanied the congregation. Pastor Shanks preached from Joshua 24 on the charge to “Choose You This Day Whom You Will Serve”. We had two first time visitors from the flier distribution this weekend!

The team relaxed in the afternoon and then enjoyed singing favorites during the evening service. Pastor Sanders preached from I Thes. on the need for the congregation to get to know each other in order to effectively accept and give help, admonition, and support.

After the service everyone enjoyed pizza!

SATURDAY WITH TEAM

Today we woke up with the coastal fog covering the neighboring mountains. The team closed the windows last night so that they could stay warmer since it is in the mid fifties at night.

We practiced music in the morning, continued working on the sign, and finished folding the last of the 5,000 church brochures.

In the afternoon we left church brochures and invitations to VBS at another 800 or so homes. After a delicious ham dinner, we had a meeting about the Sunday services, practiced some more music, and began cleaning the church. Showers for Sunday is a challenge; there are 30 people and two showers! Everyone smells and looks pretty clean, so it must be working out OK.

It is a joy for us to have the team here.

Thanks for your prayers and notes of encouragement.

FRIDAY WITH TEAM

Today everyone tried to acclimate themselves to California time and get a little rest from the LONG day on Thursday.

The men passed out almost 800 church brochures and VBS fliers in the surrounding neighborhood. The ladies prepared crafts and folded a couple thousand church brochures to pass out over the next week.

After dinner we went out to Port San Luis and Harford Pier (built 1873) to see the fishing boats, harbor, and sea lions.

What a great day.

CHURCH PLANTER JASON JANZ

What a great evening we had on Sunday with the Janz family. We heard how God has led them to plant a church in downtown Denver, CO.
